Stylistically, the method of rendering the horse and background is very close to another painting in the museum’s collection, “The Emperor Hsüan-tsung of the Ming Dynasty on Horseback”. Since the latter painting was done in the Ming Painting Academy, we may deduce that our present painting must have also come out of the some academy.
